Coquina Sands is a beautiful residential enclave located among the Lowdermilk Beach area of south Naples. Historically, this area represented the northernmost periphery of the original plat for the town of Naples that was filed in Lee County way back in 1887. The roads here were created with the original grid that even encompassed that found in Olde Naples, in fact, the early drive to places like Bonita Springs involved traversing a path through Coquina Sands, but that was before creation of the Tamiami Trail (aka Highway 41). Today, many pass along the highway oblivious to the bliss and beauty that awaits within this neighborhood which is comprised by single-family homes as well as condominiums that offer direct access to the beach.
Though the condominium developments typically offer their own, respective composite of amenities, there are certain advantages which all residents enjoy. This not only includes access to beach, but also amenities at the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club. The Naples Beach Hotel is home to a championship golf course which, in recent years, was completely renovated by Jack Nicklaus. Interestingly, it was on this very course that Jack Nicklaus, at the tender of age 11, scored his first under-40 for a round of nine holes; he shot a 37. Beyond the golf, the facility here hosts The Sunset Beach Bar & Grill which The Travel Channel has named as The BEST beach bar in Naples. Throughout the year, a variety of events take place here, including the popular Jazz on the Greens concert series.
More in the way of entertainment can be found at destinations like Artis-Naples, a host of lavishly staged theatrical productions, art exhibitions and concerts by legendary recording artists. Of course, the greatest show in town may well be the sparkling sunsets over the Gulf and you can certainly revel in the views found at Coquina Sands.
